About Gutter Cleaning Raunds
Northampton is located 34 kilometres (21 miles) to the northeast of Raunds. The town is surrounded by agricultural farmland and is located at the southernmost point of the Nene Valley.
East Midlands Airport is 65 miles away and Luton Airport is 50 miles away.
In close proximity to Raunds lies Stanwick Lakes, a national park created from abandoned gravel quarries and overseen by the Rockingham Forest Trust. This park, which is accessible on foot from Raunds via the Meadow Lane bridleway, is renowned around the world for its birds.
The remnants of a Roman villa were found in the Nene Valley in the middle of the 1980s during sand excavations. The excavation of the region, which is close to Stanwick, was put off for a time while researchers examined the artefacts. An Anglo-Saxon cemetery’s remnants were discovered during an excavation by Channel 4’s Time Team in a backyard in 2002.
The place name Raunds initially occurs as Randan in an Anglo-Saxon document from around 972-992. In the Domesday Book (1086), it is listed as Rande, and in a later survey of Northamptonshire, it is listed as Raundes. The name is derived from the Old English word rand, which means “boundary.”
Up until the 1950s and 1960s, when it began to collapse, Raunds had a place in the boot and shoe business. A disagreement in 1905 about the pay due to army bootmakers resulted in a march to London in May of the same year. Although a few factories persisted into the early 1990s, all of them are now closed, and many are being destroyed to make way for new developments. The latest to close was the Coggins boot factory, whose location is now Coggins Close. Robert Coggins paid the Duchy of Lancaster £14.10s.0d (£14.50) on February 25, 1899 for the property that housed the shoe business and the first Coggins homes (not Coggins Close).
