About Gutter Maintenance Newhaven
At the mouth of the River Ouse in East Sussex, England, is the port city of Newhaven. The town grew throughout the Middle Ages as a new port had to be created due to the adjacent port of Seaford starting to dry up. To maintain access to the sea, a protected harbour was constructed in the middle of the 16th century, followed by a breakwater in the late 18th. Following the railroad’s introduction in 1847 and the frequent cross-Channel ferry services to Dieppe, Newhaven became more significant. Even though they have diminished in the twenty-first century, Newhaven nevertheless offers regular ferry service and is still a significant freight hub.
Many Canadian soldiers were stationed in Newhaven during World War II, and the disastrous Dieppe Raid in 1942 was mostly launched from the harbour.
Lord Lucan, a well-known gambler and murder suspect, went missing in 1974. His car was later discovered abandoned in Norman Road, Newhaven, with blood traces that, in accordance with Sandra Rivett’s testimony, matched the blood types of both his wife and the children’s nanny he is thought to have murdered. He may have taken the cross-Channel ferry, based on his whereabouts in Newhaven, but no verifiable sighting of him was ever reported.
